Wipro to build leadership pool
India: Wipro to build leadership pool
With its employee base crossing 1.3 lakh and with
big ambitions to expand globally, Wipro
Technologies is taking major new initiatives to
strengthen its leadership resource pool.
The IT giant has identified 100 middle management
employees who will constitute its second line of
leadership and who will be groomed to take on
bigger roles. Next year, it plans to hire 100
people overseas, who will be trained to take on
global leadership roles.
Output, new order growth accelerate in Kingdom
RIYADH:
The Saudi British Bank (SABB) has
published the results of the headline SABB HSBC
Saudi Arabia Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for
October 2011 - a monthly report issued by the bank
and HSBC. It reflects the economic performance of
Saudi Arabian nonoil producing private sector
companies and establishments through the
monitoring of a number of variables, including
output, new orders, exports, input prices, output
prices, quantity of purchases, stocks and
employment.
Global Fund, China agree to cut $95m from grants
BEIJING:
A global health fund and China have
agreed to cut $95 million from grants for
disease-fighting programs in the country amid
donor pressure to prevent misuse of money and
reduce aid given to the world's second-largest
economy.
Madinah airport to be modernized
JEDDAH: The General Authority for Civil Aviation
awarded a contract to develop and operate the
Prince Muhammad International Airport in Madinah
on a build, transfer and operate basis to a
consortium of three private companies in Riyadh on
Saturday.
Saudi university raises bar for HR development
DAMMAM: King Fahd University of Petroleum and
Minerals has created a leadership-development
program for its administrators that may set a new
standard for human resources in Saudi businesses
and universities.
Britain on brink of recession despite Q3 growth
LONDON: The economy is teetering on the brink of
recession despite a solid performance in the third
quarter, increasing pressure on the government to
boost growth as fresh turmoil in the euro zone
creates new risks. Gross domestic product grew by
0.5 percent on the quarter as business services
and finance posted the strongest quarterly
increase in four years, the Office for National
Statistics said on Tuesday, a notch more than
analysts had forecast.
Mubadala in China petroleum coke JV
ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi's Mubadala plans to build a
petroleum coke facility in Zhenjiang, China, in a
joint venture with the Jiangsu Surun High Carbon
Company (Surun) that could start production late
next year, the investment fund said on Monday.
