How To Make Money Online With Review Sites

So how do you make money with review sites for
products you’re promoting as an affiliate?
At the simplest level, of course, it’s just a
matter of turning each visitor into as much income
as possible. And how you get that accomplished—get
those visitors—can cost you less or more. You can
get them for free, for example, through search
engine traffic, or you may get publicity if you
have a really helpful review site, you can get
traffic quite inexpensively by submitting
articles, for example, or even for free if you
submit them by hand, and if you are submitting
articles, then of course you need to decide
whether you’re writing them yourself or have
someone else write them for you. And it’s
generally quite inexpensive to have articles
written. But the quality of the article can make a
big difference, too, so bear that in mind when
getting quotes.

And then as previously mentioned, you can
advertise on Google or Yahoo, or MSN Search, which
is now Live Search…but again, it all comes down
simply to how much you can make per visitor, and
therefore how much can you afford to spend on
advertising.

Also as I mentioned previously, you want to try to
maximize the revenue and also the profits from
every visitor. Otherwise, you’re really doing your
business a disservice.
There are a number of ways of doing this, so let
me begin by talking you through a great example.
Money Saving Expert dot com. This site is written
by a journalist who specializes in saving money
for consumers. However, in a way, it’s a review
site, because he’s constantly making
recommendations for the best products and sites to
go to. So really, in that sense, it really is a
review site, just with a lot of extra helpful
content added in, and the money the site makes
really does pretty much all come from affiliate
programs. And because he deliberately runs the
site very transparently, taking a look at a quick
example… Let’s come back to top cashback sites…and
his recommendations are…okay, he has these
two…Quidco…and Topcashback.

And the recommendation
with the star next to it means that it’s an
affiliate link. And here’s his policy at the
bottom of every page.

So that’s one way of doing things. I imagine that
it’s actually a minority of sites that really make
it a point of differentiating affiliate links from
other links. But that’s the way the site owner
decided he wanted it run, and the way it’s
presented…to be a champion for the consumer.
Anyway, he gets visitors by having great content.
It’s all over the search engines. I believe
there’s some paid advertising for this site, but
not a huge amount. And the traffic comes through
the great content and the search engines…a lot of
referrals from other sites…a lot of publicity, and
he’s a journalist and therefore talks a lot on the
radio and television. He makes a habit of
mentioning his site. He’s built an email site with
hundreds of thousands of members for very little
advertising cost.

And because of all this, because of the quality of
the content, he has a lot of repeat visitors, and
repeat visitors of course, means increased revenue
and profits per unique visitor. So repeat visitors
are very important.
